Mel Libre's song composition for SOS

from the archives of The Freeman:

Mel Libre is no stranger in writing theme songs. He had written quite a number of pieces for various causes, institutions and organizations. Among these were those for the 1994 Cebu Palarong Pambansa and the Philippine National Red Cross. He also wrote the thematic jingles for Aboitiz & Co. and Sun*Star newspaper.

In his piece for SOS, as he did for the 1994 National Games that Cebu City hosted, Mel will invite Cebu artists to contribute their talents for the cause of SOS. The piece will be like the combined concept of the 1984 post-Grammy night “We Are The World” and “Hand in Hand” of Koreana for the 1988 Seoul Olympics.

“But ‘The Children of The World’ will have a contemporary touch,” he said.
